Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science

The Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science provides an optimal environment for pursuing doctoral studies in computer science at an internationally competitive level. As a student, you undergo research-oriented training and experience a stimulating and scientifically challenging atmosphere. Advised by internationally renowned scientists, you can participate in one of the many research groups and find your way into top-notch research.

We offer a genuine doctoral program in English supported by the German Excellence Initiative. The Department of Computer Science at Saarland University runs the Graduate School in close cooperation with the internationally renowned research institutions:

They are all located right next to each other on our Saarbrücken campus. This unique research environment gives our Ph.D. candidates the chance to collaborate with some 180 researchers at the postdoctoral or professorial level and over 350 doctoral students, covering virtually all areas of computer science.

The International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science (IMPRS-CS) runs their fellowship program in close collaboration with the Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science which is responsible for all Ph.D. candidates in Computer Science at Saarland University. IMPRS-CS doctoral researchers are members of the Graduate School.

EATCS Distinguished Dissertation Awards

Again in 2016, one of our PhD graduates has been awarded one of three distinguished dissertation awards from the EATCS. Congratulations To Radu Curticapean!


Google PhD Fellowships 2016 announced

Sandy Heydrich, a member of the Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science at Saarland University, has been awarded one of the year’s highly competitive Google PhD Fellowships for her research in the area of Market Algorithms that she is doing at the Max-Planck Institute for Informatics. Congratulations to her and her supervisors!
